Guest Room

There's this sad little room on the second floor of our house, and until last week it was basically a storage space/hallway connecting the back office to the rest of the upstairs.  But with our very first house guests arriving for the weekend, we rushed to prepare the room.

Originally the entire second floor was covered with wall to wall carpeting.  Gasp.  When we finally got around to ripping it up over the summer the worst of what we found underneath was in the sad little room, making it even sadder.  (Does this sound like a fairy tale?)

Most of the floor was covered in some kind of

 black gunk, maybe tar?

But after scraping on his hands and knees, a long day with an electric 

sander and several coats of varnish John managed to restore the 

    wood to its original glory.  He's a keeper alright.

You like the blanket?  Had to do it!

Our little room is still little, but no longer sad!

It's a perfect little get away for our guests,
